P.E. Weather Report was an influential jazz fusion band of the 1970s and 1980s, one of the bands that defined the genre. Oddly, Weather Report didn’t replace them; instead, they invited another bassist (Andrew White) and drummer (Herschel Dwellingham) to join them, apparently hoping that the extant rhythm section would take the hint. This album marked the end of bassist Miroslav Vitouš’s tenure with the band. In 1970, he played with organist Jack McDuff, followed by gigs with other local groups, including time in Boston with keyboardist Webster Lewis.
